York County Junior Misses are Distinguished Young Women - Scholarship/Leadership/Talent

Over the past 53 years, America's Distinguished Young Women has evolved with the times to ensure that it remains the premier scholarship program for high school girls. Though many elements of the program have changed through the years, the program's goals and purpose remain the same. We will always be a program that encourages and rewards young women for being their best.
The mission of our program:
Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments.
- By encouraging continued education and providing college scholarships
- By developing self-confidence and the abilities to interview effectively, to speak in public, to perform on stage and to build interpersonal relationships
- By encouraging and showcasing excellence in academic achievement, physical fitness, on-state performance skills, and the ability to think and communicate clearly
- By creating opportunities to beneficially inspire their lives
York County's name has been changed to Distinguished Young Women of York County.
York County's program, affiliated with Distinguished Young Women of America, has successfully opened the door of opportunity for young women since its beginning in 1958. The Distinguished Young Women Program (formerly Junior Miss) is the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school girls in the United States.
In addition to receiving a significant scholarship award, the Distinguished Young Woman of York County will represent York County at the Pennsylvania State Finals.
