Since she was 10 years old, Nicolette knew she wanted to enter the York County Junior Miss Program. Her dream of competing was not only realized, but she was named York County Junior Miss at the 45th annual Junior Miss program on Saturday evening, May 1, 2010.
Nicolette was awarded $12,300 in scholarship money in the competition. She was selected over 27 other high school juniors from various high schools throughout York County. At Central York she is a member of National Honor Society, the Model United Nations Club and is in the top 5% of her class (ranked 4th). She plays on the boy's varsity golf team and qualified for the District III girl's golf tournament in 2008 and 2009.
Acccording to Nicolette, "Junior Miss was the most amazing experience in my life. It taught me to be confident and true to myself. I'm so proud to be part of the program."
Lyn Bergdoll, President of the York County Junior Miss program said Drescher's talent and interview skills set her apart. "She was outstanding on stage," Lyn said. "Her talent was very good and her interview with the judges was very strong." According to Lyn, "the whole evening is really electric. It's a celebration of the youth in our community. The program showcases all of their hard work, and that's really an inspiration for everyone."
More than $30,000 in scholarship money was awarded to eight girls this year. The money is paid to the girl's chosen colleges. Scholarship money this year was provided by Jack Giambalvo Motor Co., Chloe Eichelberger, York College, Harvey and Win Bradley, The Bon-Ton, Perform Group LLC, Stewart and Tate Inc, York Traditions Bank and Glatfelter Insurance Group.
